155 Inspiring Peace Corps Blogs by Country

If there’s anything consistent about the Peace Corps, it’s that no two people have the same experience. I served in Panama for three years and in my third year, I had the opportunity to be a Regional Leader. During this time, I visited Peace Corps Volunteers in their communities, seeing just how different each person’s experience was…and that was in the same country! Although there’s no magic bullet when it comes to preparing for the Peace Corps, I’ve compiled a list of Peace Corps blogs by country to help give you a glimpse of what you might be able to (somewhat) expect from your own service.

Blog Breakdown

I’ve organized this post according to continent/region, country and, finally, blogs.

For the blogs themselves, they’re listed in order of most recent Peace Corps service to oldest. The years of the volunteer’s Peace Corps service are listed in parenthesis to the right of their blog link.

The idea of this arrangement is to help aspiring volunteers get the best understanding possible of what they can (mildly) expect and also offers insight on how Peace Corps service in any given country has evolved over the years.

A note on “?”

Some of the Peace Corps service dates listed end with a “?”. This is because I couldn’t find a date that indicated that the volunteer had left the country or evidence that the volunteer was still in the country.

Many Peace Corps blogs started off well and then tapered off. This could be for a number of reasons, but based on my personal experience as a volunteer, the following are most likely:

  • The volunteer didn’t have easy access to WiFi.
  • The volunteer had to or chose to end their service early.

Even though a number of the blogs in this post aren’t complete through the end of service, they’re still a valuable resource. At the very least, they offer insight into what training was like and, in many cases, their initial experience in their communities.

Note: There were a number of blogs that I would’ve liked to include in this list. However, they didn’t have a secure link, so they’ve been omitted from this post.

Further Peace Corps Reading

Before you jump off this page to read these amazing Peace Corps blogs, I encourage you to bookmark my post on ten amazing books about the Peace Corps to expand your Peace Corps reading options.

And, if you’re willing to tolerate my sales pitch for a moment, I’d love to tell you about my Messages series.

Messages to Jake is a romance novel that follows a Peace Corps Volunteer living in the Panamanian jungle. Packed with humor, characters that’ll feel like friends and, of course, love, the Messages series explores what happens when a rural community is confronted with HIV, drug trafficking, and religious conflict.

If you’re an aspiring volunteer shaking in your boots as you read this, rest easy. This is a work of fiction, and fiction needs twists and drama. While some scenes were inspired by my own Peace Corps experience in Panama, Messages is, like any piece of fiction, for entertainment purposes.

What am I missing?

New Peace Corps blogs are always popping up as people start their service (not to mention older blogs that get lost to Google’s algorithms). If you or someone you know has a Peace Corps blog that you’d like to see on this list, let me know in the comments section below or send me a message. Please include the years of service and note that only blogs that have a secure connection will be accepted. The more resources we can include here to support our fellow or aspiring PCVs, the better.

Happy Reading!

P.S.Looking for a Peace Corps read? I’ve written a novel series, Messages, that was inspired, in part, by my service in Panama. You can download it for free if you have Kindle Unlimited or purchase it for a few dollars on Amazon. Your support means so much 😊
