“Biz Markie literally built his fame on being the worst singer ever,” says one commenter in an online forum. Known as the “Clown Prince of Hip Hop,” Markie’s 1989 hit “Just a Friend” was a chart-topper that landed him in infamy.
2: Don’t Think Twice
Many agree that one of the most famous singer-songwriters of all time, Bob Dylan, also has a harsh voice. This pet parent agrees. “I named my cat Bob Dylan because she was a brilliant lyricist (for a cat) with a terrible singing voice.”
3: Yoko Oh No
Yoko Ono, famously paired with Beatles member John Lennon, was a little less known for her singing chops. One person commented, “I literally prank a bar down the street with remote plays of Yoko Ono songs.”
4: Rough Around the Edges
Tom Waits is well known for his gravelly voice, which is less than appealing to some listeners. One commenter referenced the words of journalist Daniel Durcholz, who said Waits’ voice sounds “like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car.”
5: I Gotta Feeling
One commenter said The Black Eyed Peas, a band that ruled early 2000s radio, are less than stellar to listen to. “Especially Fergie. Live, they’re AWFUL, and her voice is meh. It’s not terrible but doesn’t hold up to the recorded version and the hype.”
6: All About That Bass
“The nasal bray, the vocal fry…” one commenter went on about what makes overnight success Meghan Trainor’s voice less than appealing. Another person dissed her discography, saying, “And it all sounds exactly the same!”
7: Jenny From The Block
While she made Forbes’ 2020 list of America’s Self-Made Women, Jennifer Lopez misses the mark for some people’s eardrums. “She’s terrible at acting and singing, Imo.” One commenter said, “Great dancer, though.”
8: Nice For What
Degrassi actor turned rap star Drake fails to impress some listeners. One person didn’t mince words for their review, saying, “Drake sounds like he’s half asleep and trying to pass a kidney stone. He’s awful.”
9: He Won’t Be Loved
“Adam Levine of Maroon 5 has the most annoying ‘good’ voice, and I’ll die on that hill,” says one commenter. They’re not the only ones to bash the “Sunday Morning” singer. “100%, I hate his voice,” another person said.Â

Motley Crue frontrunner Vince Neil caught some heat from one commenter. “He got to be the frontman of Motley Crue because he was blonde and charismatic. His voice was mediocre and got worse as he aged.”

One commenter had a backhanded compliment for a spell-binding Disney star. “Selena Gomez sounds like an autotuned goose. I like her songs, though.”
12: Throw Away Your Shot
The creator of the mega-hit Broadway production Hamilton got props for creativity, but that’s about it for some commenters. “Listen to any song from Hamilton by the original cast vs., well, anyone else. Even Weird Al did it better, lol.”
13: Not The Boss
Despite getting a lot of flack for it, once commenter sticks by Bruce Springsteen as the worst-sounding singer. “Some of his softer, slower songs are fine, but his uptempo songs, especially Born In The USA, make my ears bleed.”
14: Gimmie Less
Britney Spears may be free from conservatorship, but that doesn’t spare her from criticism. One person said, “I am rooting for her, but her voice isn’t good.” Some speculate further on her voice. “I read that she was made to do this to distinguish her from Christina Aguilera.” Â

Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco has some former fans leaving hate comments. “I used to love that band so much. I even went to see them when he was touring with Weezer, but his voice lately is AWFUL.”
